The most prominent feature of this panel are it's six
Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) controlled display units that replace most conventional
flight and engine instruments. There are two
Primary Flight Displays (PFDs), two
Navigation Displays (NDs), and a
Primary and
Secondary Engine Instrument and Crew Alerting Systems. Display management computers acquire and process all input
from the airplane's sensors and computers to generate the display images. If a display unit fails, automatic and manual switching allow the
displays to be transferred to an operable display unit. There's also two
Control Display Units (CDU) which aids the crew in flight management.
