Active Frequency Window
Displays the tuned frequency of the selected radio. Also displays DATA if the selected radio is in the data mode. (Not applicable for VHF L).
Offside Tuning Light
Indicates one of the following:
- Radio normally associated with this panel is being tuned by another radio tuning panel.
- Radio tuning panel is being used to tune a radio not normally associated with this tuning panel.
Standby Frequency Window
Displays the preselected or previously tuned frequency of the selected radio.
HF Sensitivity Control Knob
Adjusts the sensitivity of the respective HF receiver.
Frequency Transfer Switch
Simultaneously transfers the Standby window frequency to the Active window (or vice versa) and tunes the selected radio to the new active frequency.
Amplitude Modulation (AM) Switch
The AM switch selects the AM (Amplitude Modulation) or the USB (Upper Side Band) mode for the selected HF. When the light is on, AM mode has
been selected. If the the light is off, USB mode has been selected.
Standby Frequency Selector Knobs
- Outer Knob - Selects the portion of frequency left of decimal point.
- Inner Knob - Selects the portion of frequency right of decimal point.
HF Switches
There are two independent HF communication radios, designated HF L and HF R. Each HF radio can be tuned by any radio tuning panel.
HF radio sensitivity can be set as follows:
- The left Radio Tuning Panel (Captain's) controls left HF radio sensitivity.
- The right Radio Tuning Panel (First Officer's) controls right HF radio sensitivity.
VHF Switches
There are three independent VHF voice/data radios, designated VHF L, VHF C and VHF R. Any VHF radio can be tuned by any radio tuning panel.
VHF L is configured for data or voice communication. However, only one VHF radio can operate in the data mode at a time. Normally, VHF C is
configured for data communication. A light indicates that the switch has been selected.
PNL Switch
When pushed, disconnects the panel from the communication radios. When the PNL light is off, it indicates that the Radio Tuning Panel is off.
